NASH Research Study
We are conducting a new research study for individuals who have Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH). Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease describes a range of conditions caused by a build-up of fat within the liver. In some instances, this excess fat can lead to inflammation of the liver, otherwise known as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (or NASH). If this inflammation gets worse, it can lead to severe liver damage, and the function of the liver can be disrupted. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety of an investigational medication and any effect on ALT liver enzymes.
Volunteers may qualify if they:
* Are 18 to 75 years old
* Have the potential to have NASH based on having type II diabetes or pre-diabetes
* Have had a liver biopsy in the past 2 years confirming NASH
There are additional criteria to meet to qualify for this study. Volunteers who qualify for our study will receive study related medication and medical exams at no cost, as well as reimbursement for time and travel. No health insurance is required to participate.
